Your New Best Friend Is Waiting With Open Paws
Cats of Macon County, NC That Found Forever Homes (since February 1, 2022)
The adoption process is easy. Once you find the dog you can't live without, follow these steps:
1. Understand the Responsibility
Adopting a dog should be a well-thought out decision. Dogs are meant to spend their entire lives with you. They are family members and are not disposable. They need to be fed and cared for every single day. Don't adopt an animal unless you are committed to the long-term care for that animal.
2. Make Appointment with Shelter
Everyone working with shelter dogs is very friendly and loves meeting and talking with prospective adopters, like you. Call or text 239-595-0623 or 941-266-7084 to make an appointment or write to us here and we'll arrange a meeting. Take note of the dog's ID and/or name.
3. Meet Your New Best Friend
Come meet your new dog in Franklin, NC. Meeting your forever friend and companion is fun. Complete the basic required paperwork, pay the $65 fee and leave with your dog.
4. Get Pet Supplies at Local Pet Store
Pick up some dog supplies from your local pet store.
- a dog bed
- elevated feeding bowls depending on dog's height
- a collar and leash
- food
- fun toys
- healthy treats
Don't Forget....
Remember, these dogs been living at the Macon County shelter for days, weeks or months, so they need time with you at your house to calm down and settle in. Dogs may bark and move around a lot, but it's mostly them being excited and trying to communicate with you.
